Hiatus
Hello faithful blog readers! You may have noticed my blog is not updated everyday (Ha...every two weeks!) like I had originally planned. Well, some other obligations have taken precedence over Loose Ends, sadly (but not!) Hint Hint...look two posts down. I will be checking in occasionally, however, so please return the favor!
Peace, my friends!

Sara Bareilles
She is one of my favorite artists! I realize she is new, but I have no doubt Sara Bareilles is going places! If my instinct is right like it was last time (see below), we will be hearing much more of her in the future!

Hotel Cafe Tour!
Current mood: hopeful
So, I went to an amazing live show a few weeks ago at the Gypsy Tea Room! It was the Hotel Cafe Tour with singer/songwriters Joshua Radin and Cary Brothers with Schuyler Fisk, Sara Bareilles, Jim Bianco, and Rachael Yamagata. It rocked! Um...can I just say my new favorite artist is Sara Bareilles. Her voice is amazing! Kind-of a mix of Norah Jones and Sarah McCloughlin. Check her out, as well as ALL the others!
Fun times,

Jonas Brothers, Taylor Swift, Ryan Seacrest - New Year's Eve Ball Drop in NYC
I taped the New Year's Rockin' Eve Show last night since I went to the Dallas party at Victory Park, but all I could think about when I watched today was how awkward midnight was for Joe Jonas and Taylor Swift! Check out the video below around 4:20.
Peace and love in 2009!

Funny thing...I was at Guitar Center a week earlier with my sister and thought it would be the perfect place to run into Jason. Lo and behold, I was right, but he was too late!

Jason Castro: Christmas Eve at Lake Pointe Church
I've been on hiatus for a while, but here's our favorite idol nonetheless! Jason sings White Christmas at Lake Pointe Church in his hometown of Rockwall, TX on Christmas Eve. Looks like he was part of a big production. I love this...
And here are two of the pastors dread wigs. It's hilarious!

Bob Crowley Wins Survivor Gabon!

17 seasons down and there is no end in sight! Bob Crowley was named Sole Survivor and won $1,000,000 in the Survivor Gabon finale tonight! Runner up was Susie Smith, and third place went to Sugar. I was very disheartened that not a single vote went to Sugar in the end, and also surprised she did not get the $100,000 people's choice award. That went to Bob, who was already handed plenty of dough. I guess Sugar will have to make due as a pin-up model! I'm just glad Susie didn't win and that I don't have to hear Corinne's harsh words any longer!
Congratulations Bob! Now go purchase some more bow ties!

Jason Castro: Barnes and Noble Meet and Greet
Countless dreadhead fans flocked to Barnes and Noble in Garland, TX today, and several passer-bys were confused by the commotion! I had to tell several customers who was making an appearance. "Jason Castro from American Idol," I answered. About 80% of the Dallas metroplex know the name, but the loyal fans were willing to stand in long lines.
Jason signed books, pictures, and calendars today, and part of the proceeds of these purchases went to the Best Education Foundation. Here's my story:
I went to the shelf to pick up my copy of a book I needed, and it was not there! So I checked with a friendly B&N employee. As she was fumbling away on her computer, I glanced over to find a "Jason Castro Recommends" table. And guess what? My book was on it! Being the huge fan I am, I had not heard he was a supporter of The Irresistible Revolutionby Shane Claiborne. But apparently so! He signed my copy, "Lead the Revolution." Super-personable and thankful for his fans! And my sister was even pleased to meet him!

Jason Castro and Patti La Belle
Lots of Jason Castro events to cover, so let's get right to it. My favorite idol took the stage last night at the Special Events Center in Garland, TX with Patti La Belle at a fund-raiser for the Best Education Foundation. It was the most random concert: Hamilton Park Baptist Church Men's Choir opened (a full-on Gospel choir), Jason and band did their thing in an amazing acoustic set, then diva-personified Patti La Belle stole the spotlight, literally. She requested a fan in the middle of her performance! Worst of all, she forgot Jason's name after asking the audience to give him a round of applause. She said "Oh, the American Idol guy..."
Jason's band consists of three other guys with one on electric guitar, one on drums. and one on a 12-string guitar. The met in LA during Idol tour rehearsals. He sang all original songs with the exception of "Daydream," "Over the Rainbow," and "Hallelujah." Oh, and he did :White Christmas." Look at next post :)
I met both Castro siblings, Jackie and Michael. Michael is very friendly and his lips were sealed when asked about making it on Season 8 of American Idol! Don't worry 19 Entertainment!

Britney Spears' Documentary, Britney: For the Record

Late news, yes! But I was so thoroughly impressed by MTV's film on Britney, that I had to post about it. Monday December 1st, Britney: For the Record debuted on MTV and was a raw and honest documentary featuring the pop queen herself. Perfect timing since her 27th birthday was yesterday December 2, and Britney's newest project, Circus, dropped.
I DVR'd the show and planned to watch it when I got time. But after finishing The Biggest Loser last night, I couldn't help myself and I pushed 'play.' To be honest, I've never been really intrigued by Britney Spears. I mean, I think the girl can dance (really good), but I'll leave the singing up to Cristina Aguilera. The most I've ever cared about the pop princess was when she went "crazy" and shaved her head. That's when I came to the conclusion that celebrities do not have the life we all really think they have. I think they long for something more than their money can buy!
Well, I'm happy to see Britney back on track and moving forward past the big bumps she's encountered. Britney: For the Record captured her so honestly that I was moved. She is just a girl whose dream came true and then it exploded! It is very sad in away that she cannot go out by herself anywhere. There are always 50+ paparazzi and a slew of 10 assistants/bodyguards. I can now see why she longs for freedom, in some form or fashion.
My favorite interview of the doc was of a dancer, Andre Fuentes, who has danced with Britney for 9 years. Basically he says that he loves her not because of her stardom but because of her personality and friendship. You could tell he was hurting for her and supporting her. I'll try to post this soon.
Click here for more on Britney: For the Record.
That's all I got for now! Thanks MTV for the photo!
